Passionate, Caring and Respectful are the words to describe the volunteers of the Seeds of Peace Young Leadership Comittee. The Committee held a grand event at Pacha in New York City on April 7, 2011. With over 1000 professionals from from various industries, ethnicities and religions in attendance, the event was a tremendous success. The Seeds of Peace is an organization dedicated to promoting tolerance, youth leadership and ultimately peace in the Middle East and in South Asia.
The well organized event featured celebrity musical entertainment by Macy Gray, the largest hummus taste-off in New York City, a live auction that included items such as VIP Grammy Tickets, NCAA Final Four Tickets and much more. The event also featured a market place to purchase items such as T-shirts and jewelry, an interactive photo booth, a henna tattoo artist, belly dancers, and a fortune teller.
With the dedication and support of its members, the 6th Annual Seeds of Peace Market raised over $290,000 for Seeds of Peace programming.
Since its inception in 1993, the non-profit Seeds of Peace organization has graduated over 4,300 teenagers from 22 countries worldwide. The organization began as a summer camp in Maine where teens built relationhips across the divides of their country’s conflicts, impacting the world by embracing and promoting peace-builing initiatives. Seeds of Peace has since grown into a year-round, multi-faceted leadership development and co-existence program, dedicated to empowering young people with the understanding and skills needed to lead the way toward a future free from violence, hatred and fear.
