We had the pleasure of dining at the charming Olio e Piú in West Village last night and we must say that when Italy meets NYC, we don't complain! At Olio e Piú, literally meaning oil and more, you can expect a European vibe accented with a Pizzaiolo making fresh pies in a wood fired pizza oven. The quirky patio filled with flowers and mismatched furniture is ideal for people watching; a mix of locals catching up over drinks, couples on dates, and families celebrating an occasion. The cocktails are a fun blend of sweet and sour flavors, but the wines by the bottle are where you can't go wrong. Order yourself a crisp rosé and indulge in the Antipasto Misto with a blend of Italian meats and cheese or the Caprese salad, both of which have a huge hunk of creamy burrata cheese that is difficult to stop eating! Break some bread with the thin and crispy focaccia dipped in an herbed olive oil.
Choosing a main course dish is difficult because they all sound amazing! The star of the show is the lush Spaghetti Carbonara with serious table-side yolk porn action and the perfectly cooked skin on whole branzino. Pesto lovers can order up their Pollo al Pesto dish for their fix. For dessert choose from Nutella pizza, Molten Chocolate Cake with gelato, or the classic Affogato. We think the Tiramisu is one of the best in New York City and you may even find yourself ordering another!
With dinner for two running $75-$100 and frequent promotions on bottles of wine, Olio e Piú may just become your favorite new spot in the West Village! Olio e Piú is located at 3 Greenwich Ave, New York, NY 10014, for more information and to make reservations visit: http://www.olionyc.com/
