On November 6th the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance (OCRA) hosted the OCRA Style Lab. The event was hosted by Maggie Gyllenhaal and Kate Mara, with music by DJ Michele Pesce and performances by En Vogue. This is the first year the gala has been held at Gotham Hall. The gala had many activities including the “Shop my Closet” area, the Perfume Bar, and the Bracelet Making station. The Shop My Closet portion of the event allowed attendees to shop discounted luxury clothes as well as bid on gorgeous outfits previously worn by celebrities. The bidding was done online and it continued even after the gala ended. Vendors also sold clothing at the gala and had tables around the perimeter of the event. The clothing that was bid on was donated to OCRA by many celebrities including Oprah Winfrey, John Stamos, Kate Upton, and Kristen Bell. |
Out of all of the items, the most sought after was the Ferragamo Rainbow Bag previously owned by Julia Roberts. After guests shopped for their favorite look, there was an area to create your own perfume scent! There so many options to choose from. We mixed different lavender scents until we had made the perfect concoction. We also crafted our own bracelet by choosing up to 12 letters to put on our circular canvas. What phrase would you put on your custom jewelry? Food and specialty drinks were served - we loved the creative cocktail names, specially the Ocra Hope, Style Lab… in the city, and Star Studded Manhattan.
