Located in the heart of the Meat Packing District in New York City, recently opened Mulino A Vino serves up delicious Italian fare with an extensive selection of Italian wines. This beautiful restaurant with a rustic ambiance serves over 100 types of wine by the glass and offers paired wines for each course according to each guest’s wine preferences, palate, and flavor profile.
Mulino a Vino is a new addition to the collection of wine focused restaurants in New York City having opened in mid-November 2014. While still very young the 23-year-old Executive Chef Massimiliano Eandi brings an impressive resume having worked at several Michelin starred restaurants in Europe, including Gordon Ramsay and ARBITUS in London, and most recently at the two-star Combal.Zero in Rivoli, Italy under the tutelage of his mentor Davide Scabin. He blends these experiences with the influences of his Italian upbringing to offer a menu that displays the very essence of modern Italian cooking.
Chef Eandi serves up a menu with elevated and refined Italian comfort food. Each dish is meant to be enjoyed with one of the outstanding wines from Mulino a Vino’s wide and varied selection of Italian wines. Chef Eandi has taken great care to craft a menu that simplifies the selection of a wine pairing to ensure each guest can select their dishes presented in small, medium and large plate options and chosen wine pairings easily. The wines themselves are separated into flavor and mouth feel categories such as ‘Bright & Lively’ and ‘Clean & Earthy’ to correspond with the guest's flavor profiles, and are placed on the menu to identify which dish and wine combo pairs work well with that guest’s preferred flavor profile.
We highly recommend trying their Pasta + Pomodoro² which is a delectable Spaghettoni Pomodoro cooked in an heirloom tomato. We also loved their Ravioli Cacio e Pepe which is a fresh homemade ravioli filled with green pea puree, and prosciutto chips.
From the wine and food pairing emphasis to the rustic and homey feel of the decor, this warm & refined spot is a must-try destination. We are sure that anyone who dines there once will return again and again.
