Motown the Musical's Finale on Broadway

"Motown was a dream that happened to come true," words spoken by the legendary founder of Motown, Berry Gordy, Jr. on the eve of the last performance of "Motown the Musical" on Broadway. The final performance after a two-year run on Broadway was held on January 18th at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. The finale had a surprise speech by Berry Gordy Jr. himself, followed by a private afterparty/awards ceremony at Glass House Tavern in New York City.
"Motown the Musical" immerses the audience into the life of Berry Gordy, Jr. and shows the struggles and successes of his life through a musical journey that spans over forty years. We are introduced to a young Berry Gordy, Jr. who dreams of becoming a famous boxer, even though he fulfills his dream of boxing, his greatest love was music. He followed his passion for songwriting which led him to becoming a music mogul who in turn changes music forever.
Through this musical timeline, we learn how Berry Gordy, Jr. launched the careers of Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye and many more who have set the stage for music today.
