The frozen food start-up originating in a Brooklyn backyard has finally returned to its roots Downtown Brooklyn with a brick-and-mortar pop-up! Mosaic Foods Market opened to the public on May 20, 2022, offering an in person plant-based shopping experience 7 days a week to anyone who wants a quick and easy way to incorporate more plants into their diet.
Formed with a culinary base in mind, Mosaic Foods was started in 2019 as a way to make plant-based eating as easy as ordering take-out. More Americans are trying to go plant-based, but making a full switch to vegan and vegetarian eating can seem like a daunting commitment - but Mosaic Foods’ 70+ different offerings of frozen entrees brings us an easy way to incorporate even just a few plant-based meals into our daily lives! Mosaic Foods’ frozen entrees have been available for home delivery across the entire East Coast and California, but now consumers have a chance to meet them face-to-face in-store at 607a Vanderbilt Ave in Brooklyn, NY. The store has freezers full of plant-based offerings, an in-store sampling counter where they will debut their newest recipes, and a beautiful green outdoor space to sit down and enjoy the fresh air. |
Many of their in-store offerings are exclusive to Mosaic Foods Market, and aren’t available online yet - including their line of side dishes like Braised Coconut Spinach, Harissa Glazed Carrots, and Cajun Corn & Okra, all of which we were able to try for ourselves and which head chef Christine Malanga has perfected to go with their Family-Size Meals (also available in-store).
The brick-and-mortar is also the first place to try their line of vegetarian pizzas - a plant-powered spin on the individual pan pizza in classic pizza flavors, including BBQ Seitan, “Sausage” & Peppers, Four Cheese, and Broccoli Crust. We couldn’t even believe the amount of veggies packed into these pizzas, that honestly tasted better than most standard meat-cheese-and-carbs personal pans - and they’re all available frozen for you to take home and heat up to eat within minutes.
We also got a sneak peak of their upcoming line of fully vegan cookies - another benefit of getting to come in person to the Market this summer! Our favorites were the S’mores Cookies that tasted just like we were sitting around a campfire, and the Snickerbluedle Cookies - the classic snickerdoodle with a swirl of blue spirulina for a hidden healthy twist.
The store will be open at 607a Vanderbilt Ave 7 days a week from 11 AM to 9 PM, for at least the next six months. For more information on Mosaic Foods Market, head over to market.mosaicfoods.com.
