MoMa kicked off September in celebration of their PopRally program’s tenth birthday. With Dj sets by the hyper-cool Le1F, Joey Labeija, Chino Amboi, and Val-Inc, the curated art + sound space was not to be missed. Artist interventions by Recess + Boiler Room punctuated the main floor, providing activities for guests in between drinks and good conversation.
Attended by members of MoMA, special guests, and a host of press, the ground floor of the museum was packed and alive under purple LED lighting. Aimed at creating opportunities for young generations to engage with the museum, the birthday bash honored everything trending—all the way from Rihanna remixes to bottomless craft beer. The upper floors of the museum were open for viewing, allowing guests to intimately connect with MoMa’s current collection. Many of the exhibits, however, were brought new life with a variety of relevant performance art, ranging from poetry, music, and interactive opportunities for viewers. PopRally events are held intermittently at MoMA and PS1, but we’re already waiting for the series’ eleventh year. |
