Singer Mika Singh
Who is Mika Singh? Mika is a Punjabi Bhangra singer that has been singing since the age of 23, his brother is well-known Bhangra singer Daler Mehndi. I had the privilege of speaking with Mika about his music, concert tour and charity work that he has been involved with.
Mika has recently released some popular songs that can be heard in the hit Bollywood movie "Singh is King," one of my favorite recent hits is "Mauja Hi Mauja." Mika claims to be the first Indian singer to use a nasal-type singing style that can be heard by many other famous Indian singers such as Hemish Reshamiya. When asked whether he felt that he was often compared to his famous brother, he mentioned that they both have a different style of singing, therefore they can't be compared.
Mika likes to give back to the community by performing "langur", which is performed in the Sikh religion as an act of community service in which volunteers serve food in a gurdwara (temple), he also has helped many families by providing the finances for their daughter's weddings.
Mika currently has six albums released and is in the process of touring the US and Canada- his New York City concert was presented by ARIZ Inc. at Opera Nightclub on May 8, 2009. He has toured the US four times, and looks forward to being back to New York again in the future.
