On March 30, 2015, we were invited to review one of Inwood's finest Latin-Asian fusion restaurants. Mamasushi is conveniently located one minute from the A train on 237 Dyckman St, New York, NY. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and has a dining area and an extensive bar area.
David Nunez, who is the restaurant's executive chef, greeted us with his warmest hospitality and served us a four-course meal. Chef David Nunez has an extensive resume, and treats every dish like he was cooking for his own family. Each course had an exceptional presentation and featured an edible flower garnish. Each dish was a feast both visually and gastronomically and featured bold colors and tastes. The menu has a wide selection of appetizers and entrees perfect for all tastebuds. The non-seafood eaters and vegetarians have plenty to choose from! The menu also boasts a kids section with a Power Ranger Roll.
The restaurant is moderately priced with appetizers ranging from $5 to $17 and entrees ranging from $16 to $32. Our first course was sushi with wagyu beef, mango, avocado, ginger and wasabi. We were then served Danupa for our second course which is a shrimp and crabmeat ravioli with roasted pepper and kabayaki sauce. For our main course, we enjoyed the Pork Lau Lau which is braised pork served with wasabi garlic mashed potatoes. For our final course, dessert, we had a cheesecake tempura with strawberry purée and fresh strawberries along with a double shot of espresso.
Our experience at the restaurant was of quality food, ambience and excellent service at an affordable price.
