MBFW Spring 2012: Lela Rose
By Nina Mehta
September 12, 2011
Lela Rose's Sunday morning show of the Spring 2011 RTW collection opened up to dark theater with John Lennon's "Imagine" playing in the air. Once the song was over, the show began. A classy, hopeful start given the day and fitting it seems as a parade of bright splashes of color, floral prints and ladylike silhouettes came down to the runway. It was as if to call attention to a similar time in history when we needed to be reminded of the beauty in the world.
Susan Sarandon and daughter, actress Eva Amurri were among the front row guests along with Mandy Moore and stylist and TV personality, Robert Verdi. Rose designed Amurri's wedding dress for her upcoming nuptials to fiancé Kyle Martino.
Lela Rose graduated from Parson's School of Design and worked with designers Richard Tyler and Christian Francis Roth before launching her own line. She has since branched out to bridal and brand collaborations including her footwear line at Payless Shoe Source.
Show: Sunday, Sept. 11th, 2011
