NYFW: Jeans for Refugees by Johny Dar

On Thursday, September 8th, Johny Dar presented his “Jeans for Refugees” Spring ‘17 Fashion Show at Moynihan Station in New York City. The Fashion show featured celebrities’ jeans that have been hand painted by Johny Dar and will be auctioned online in effort to raise money for the International Rescue Committee. In addition, the extremely talented Polly A performed live, providing cohesive music for the show.
“Jeans for Refugees” is an artistic collaboration and global initiative that raises funds for refugees worldwide. 100 celebrities have donated their jeans for Johny to paint/style and then to be auctioned off. Celebrities that have donated jeans include Anna Wintour, Alicia Vikander, Bella Hadid, Candice Swanepoel, Cara Delevigne, Chanel Iman, David Copperfield, Daniel Radcliffe, Jane Birkin, Karlie Kloss, Kate Moss, Ozzy Osbourne, Ryan Gosling, Twiggy, Victoria Beckham and many more. Each of Johny’s work for “Jeans for Refugees” is an artistic expression representing the dynamic individual personality that the jeans belonged to. Jeans were colorful and metallic. It was clear that each design was meticulously thought out and executed accordingly. Jeans were paired with patterned bandeaus and heels for women and male models wore nothing but the jeans. The show also featured a few dresses for women in accordance with the aesthetic.
