On a hot Monday afternoon, Irina Vitjaz brought us a collection beyond cool. Beautiful silhouettes, sharp attention to details, and strong designs were the highlights of Vitjaz’s show, making her a designer to keep an eye on. This year’s New York Fashion Week is the Russian designer’s first; she grew up in Austria and her work is largely known in Europe, according to iFashion Network. Vitjaz utilized the Skylight Clarkson Square space to her advantage. All looks could be seen from every angle, which was a necessity when it came to showcasing the designer’s detailed work. The collection was extremely feminine, but unforgiving – the collection was made for the strong woman. Deep cuts, high collars, and delicate prints kept our attention the entire show. Many of the designs featured fabrics that felt lightweight and easy to move in, reaffirming our belief that Vitjaz made these pieces with the modern woman in mind. One of our favorite looks was a new take on the bubble skirt, somehow converged with a tulip skirt, coming together near the hemline. Paired with a baseball cap, the look felt fierce, flirty, and fun. We hope this debut isn’t Vitjaz’s last. |
