IPSY Live: A Beauty Lover's Dream

IPSY Live took over New York City from October 11-13th with their 10th Annual Beauty Convention. IPSY is mostly known for their monthly makeup subscriber service. IPSY Live convention, once known as Generation Beauty, is a place for beauty gurus, influencers, and makeup lovers to come together to network, learn about new beauty products and to meet their favorite creators in person.
This year there were two floors filled with beauty brands that were showcasing their latest products, giving away samples and selling some of their most popular products. IPSY Live had many interactive stations where attendees could win prizes, build their own glam bags, embroider IPSY themed merchandise and much more! Attendees also had the option of attending educational panels with celebrities like Loren Grey and Patrick Starr. We met with a lot of great brands at the show and tried countless products- see below for some of our favorites: |
Yensa
Yensa exceeded our expectations when it comes to their BC Foundation. It is a BB cream and a CC cream, which means it is both a color correcting foundation and a full coverage tinted moisturizer. Sometimes full coverage foundations can be cakey and thick but the Yensa BC Foundation is smooth and lightweight. It is also SPF 40. It is so important to wear Sunscreen every day to protect your skin from the sun, so it's refreshing to see a foundation that has a high SPF. When looking for a foundation it’s important to match the color of your neck so it blends seamlessly. This foundation combines 8 black essence superfood ingredients with Asian rituals. The 8 superfoods are: black sesame oil, black seaweed, black tea, shiitake mushroom, black rice, Korean black raspberry, nettle, and chia seeds. The superfoods deliver different powerful benefits. It has so many positives, including minimizing pores, brightening skin tone, and nourishing the skin. This foundations is a must have, thanks to it’s formula and flawless application! |
Youth to the People
After speaking to Joe Cloyes, the founder of Youth to the People, we learned that Joe and his cousin have been in the skincare business for years thanks to their Grandmother Eva. She was one of the first American aestheticians, as well as one of the first to bring all natural botanical ingredients to the United States. Joe Cloyes and Greg Gonzales were inspired continue the family tradition. Out of all of the products we tried, we fell in love with the Kale and Green Tea Spinach Vitamin Superfood Cleanser! The readers of Allure agree with us because the cleanser won the Readers Choice Award in 2019. The pride edition is part of the Youth to the People x GLSEN collection. What is so amazing about this collaboration is that 100% of the profits are donated to GLSEN, the leading education organization that creates a safe educational environment for LGBTQ students. We loved the product, the message behind it, and the story that brought the brand to life. |

Ofra is an incredible makeup brand that is very well known for its beautiful and pigmented highlighters. Out of the items we were drawn to at the show was the Ofra Glow Signature Palette. It is made up of five highlighters and a compact mirror. It's the perfect on the go palette which allows you to mix and match the highlighters to create your perfect shade. Vike Beauty Makeup is so much fun to put on, but taking it off can be chore. Good thing Vike Beauty has created a Makeup Melt Spray. Usually more than one wipe is used when taking makeup off, so the spray helps the environment by cutting down on waste. Sooae’s Hemp Dreams Oil Mist stood out to us because it is a lightweight replenishing spray. Its purpose is to maintain suppleness in the skin. It can be sprayed on the face before makeup, after makeup, or on the makeup applicator. When we tried it, we sprayed it on the brush before we applied foundation. This made the product glide on smoother and made sure the skin was hydrated so the makeup wouldn’t crack later on. |
Ciate Ciaté’s Watermelon Burst Hydrating Primer comes in a sleek adorable package. The primer leaves the skin shimmery and soft. Urban Juve Urban Juve's daily ritual oil leaves skin soft and refreshed. There is an option to pick between three oils; vitalize, balance, and align. It is made with hemp seed oil and rich nutrients.
