It's that time of year again! Once we get past Thanksgiving, it's the official start of getting ready for Christmas! Not only does this mean things like going shopping for gifts and decorating the Christmas tree, for many children this is also the time of year when they get to see Santa and tell him what they want for having been a good boy or girl all year. In that spirit, HGTV and Macerich Shopping Centers across the country have teamed up to bring an unforgettable holiday experience for you and your family called “Santa HQ”! This experience adds a whole new dimension to the traditional Santa Claus visit- it's both fun and engaging for the entire family!  

Visitors are are encouraged to make online reservations to meet Santa Claus, doing so eliminates the typical waiting in line to see Santa that we all dread! Once you and your family arrive at the appointed time, you are given a map of a fun immersive journey that culminates in a meeting with Santa Claus! Using state-of-the-art digital technology, some of the experiences at the Santa HQ include: 

  • The Elfie Selfie: Visitors take a selfie and star in their own holiday video
  • Elf-Ray Vision: Guests can explore Santa’s Observatory through the use of special equipment that trigger a series of augmented reality experiences throughout the Santa HQ
  • Naughty or Nice O'Meters: Visitors can stand next to an interactive board to find out which of Santa's lists they are on 
  • Light Show: More than 10,000 individual holiday lights are synchronized to the tune of “Carol of the Bells” to create an illuminated orchestra
  • Santa Meet & Greet: Visitors can talk to Santa and take a photograph with him

HGTV's Santa HQ experiences are located in fifteen Macerich Shopping Centers across the country with installations in California, Arizona, New York, New Jersey, Colorado, Illinois, Connecticut, Virginia and Oregon. To make your visit to the Santa HQ easy and convenient, you can make a reservation online to choose the date and time of your 
photo session by visiting http://www.santa-hq.com/reservations. The reservation system enables visitors to reserve their visit days or even weeks in advance and pre-pay for their photo package. The online reservation system can also send a text message reminder about your Santa HQ visit! 

In the holiday spirit of giving, visitors to Santa HQ will also be able to participate in HGTV’s Help Through Holiday Giving Drive. The program encourages visitors to donate new, unwrapped toys for local children in need with the goal of collecting over 1,000 toys per center. In 2016, HGTV’s Help Through Holiday Giving program collected over 66,000 toys benefiting local organizations like Forgotten Angel Tree, Salvation Army Angel Tree and Toys for Tots.
