Wow. Georgine’s SS17 show was the epitome of punk rock, sequins, and bad girl designs. When the lights dimmed, the gallery at Skylight Clarkson Square was hit with the sounds of rock and roll. The models rocked short, sharp-angled haircuts and heeled combat boots, while flaunting some seriously cool pieces. We loved it. Skirts, dresses, and jackets dominated the runway, and if the piece didn’t have sequins on it, it stood out with a cut or a bold pattern or crazy and fun buttons. Our favorite piece was a leopard-esque jacket, oversized and the perfect way to make any outfit pop.
Founded in 2012, the work is created by Georgine Ratelband and her partner Chris Roshia. The show’s program featured a letter from Georgine to her mother, who inspires the designer. “I love these pieces because when I wear them, I’m reminded of you,” Georgine writes. “I might makes some alterations to them or wear them in different ways that you ever would… but everyone always comments on how chic they still look.” We couldn’t agree more. Georgine first debuted at NYFW in 2014, and we hope to see more of the young shop in coming years. |
