On February 11, 2017, Denibi Barcelona continued this season's NYFW with an atemporal collection that incorporated strutters from the future, and textures from the past. The highly architectural collection was undoubtedly inspired by the cityscape of Barcelona, the designer’s headquarters. The color coded groups within the F/W 2017 collection each maintained their own identity: white, black and deep green, black, beige, and turquoise, while contributing to the overall cohesive vision of the set. Denibi also launched a line of new, highly structural accessories to accompany the clothes. The small handbags and backpacks worked nicely to tie all pieces together, adding a dynamism and a whimsical feeling to the curated presentation. Embedded in the artful collection, however, was a definite sense of functionality that traversed across each piece. Denibi clearly has the occupant of his architecture in mind. The collection looked right at home at Pier 59 Studios in Manhattan where mid-morning light flooded the showroom, illuminating details of the collection, and allowing their construction to cast shadows onto models’ bodies. Denibi looked phenomenally humble at the end of the show, as he peeked out to wave at press and attendees. The presentation was well-attended, featured a host of bloggers, influencers, and models—namely Shaun Ross. |
