What is Clean Beauty?

The saying goes, if you wouldn’t eat it, you shouldn't put it on your face. This phrase has become very popular in the beauty community because products often carry harsh chemicals and toxins that should not be put on the skin. Since the skin is our largest organ, what is put on it goes straight into the blood stream. It is more direct than ingesting, since it doesn't have any other organs to break the chemicals down. The United States isn’t as strict as other countries when it comes to what is put in beauty products, so consumers are spearheading the clean beauty revolution.

The Detox Market held a panel on clean beauty to discuss the industry and answer burning questions about what clean beauty is and the process behind it. Panelists were all working on clean beauty before it became a current trend and know the ins and outs of making clean products.
Detox Market
Romain Gaillard is the Owner and Founder of the Detox Market. After learning about the toxicity in personal care products, he worked hard to create a welcoming platform where people can find clean beauty products in an under regulated industry. All of the products are cruelty free and are made with pure ingredients.

Innersense Organic Beauty
Greg Starkman is the founder and CEO of Innersense Organic Beauty. He created a toxin free beauty company after his first born was diagnosed with Williams Syndrome. Greg and his wife Joanne were in the hair industry but wanted to create something bigger than themselves. They vowed to live a healthier lifestyle and to always follow their inner sense. Their brand stands for self care and hopes to inspire others to lead a healthy life that aligns with their values.

Indie Lee & Co
Indie Lee, creator of Indie Lee & Co, became aware of what was put in her beauty products after she was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor in 2008. Her doctor suggested the cause was environmental, which shocked her because she always ate organic. Once she discovered how toxic many beauty products are, she decided to create a platform to educate others about the industry and sell products that are clean and healthy.
