Cirque du Soleil's Paramour is a spectacular show for all ages! Set in The Golden Age of Hollywood, the storyline consists of a love triangle between a distinguished movie producer, his “star” and a young composer from a small town. This show has it all: a compelling love story, catchy songs, special effects, vibrant visual projections, eclectic sets, superb dance routines and of course, awe-inspiring acrobatics.
Director Philippe Decouflé and Creative Guide Jean-François Bouchard teamed up to combine a charming Broadway storyline with the magic of Cirque Du Soleil. The result of this unification is absolutely magnificent. Every second of the show is filled with immense passion and energy. Talented musicians/actors perform the storyline while acrobats follow along with breathtaking gymnastics. Bouchard explains the show as, “An encounter between a Director, an Actress and a Composer, on one hand, and a marriage of Broadway, cinema and Cirque du Soleil, on the other”. |
Ruby Lewis, who plays “Indigo”, flawlessly executes the “small-town girl becomes Hollywood star” role. Ruby sings, dances and performs light acrobatics. Although Cirque Du Soleil Paramour is her Broadway debut, it is clear that Ruby is a natural performer.
Well-renowned twin aerial strap artists, Andrew and Kevin Atherton, also star in the ensemble. Together they perform an extensive acrobatic act on areal straps that swing from the ceiling and above the audience. Their performance is incredibly impressive and detailed. In unison they seamlessly fly through the air with a hypnotizing effect.
There is never a dull moment during this show. The ensemble is constantly performing acrobatics in the background, the storyline develops with a surprise at every turn, and performers occasionally come into the aisles for added stimulation. Cirque du Soleil Paramour is undoubtedly one of the best, most entertaining shows in Broadway’s history.
