BookExpo America, or BEA is an annual trade show for the publishing industry, it is also known as the largest publishing event in North America. BEA was held in New York City at the Jacob Javits Center on May 26-27th, 2010. BEA showcases hundreds of publishing organizations booths that aim to promote their upcoming summer and fall titles. The industry converges to discuss and plan for the future of publishing. Aspiring also authors come from all over to have one of the hundreds of publishers take a chance on their manuscript.
The trade show kicked off with Barbara Streisand making a special appearance to discuss her new book about design. The Jacob Javits center was jam packed with over 30,000 attendees during the course of the two-day event. The attendees had an opportunity to meet their favorite authors, get an autographed unreleased copy of their newly published book after standing in long lines and attend author breakfast and lunches where they can learn more about the publishing industry.
BEA is the perfect trade show for those that are already in the publishing industry, want to get into the publishing industry, authors, aspiring authors and avid book readers.
