There is nothing bad about the new female-dominated comedy of the summer “Bad Moms.” Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell and Kathryn Hahn are just a few of the many stars in the new raunchy film. Whether you’re a mother or not, this film is all too relate-able when it comes to the busy lives of parents with children and how mothers cope with everything in the modern day.
Mothers today do it all— get the kids ready, have dinner ready, go to work and have a marriage to tend to. “Bad Moms” is the perfect portrayal of the complications of motherhood. Mila Kunis plays Amy, a working parent of two children, a rocky marriage and no time to breathe. She later befriends two other moms who seem to not have their life in order (Kristen Bell and Kathryn Hahn). |
At the movie premiere, Kunis stated, “I hope this allows everyone to be a little bit selfish…sometimes as moms you forget to take care of yourselves first.” In the film, that’s just what Kunis does. After courting her children so much, she finally takes a step back to let them do things on their own, even if it means messing up along the way. To add to the stereotypes of moms, Gwendolyn (Christina Applegate) portrays the do-it-all control-freak P.T.A President. While these different personalities and views of parenting and the role of motherhood clash throughout the film, in the end, it’s inevitable that there is no textbook way on motherhood.
