Upper West Side's newest Indian restaurant, Awadh, serves up North/South Indian dishes fit for a king. We were invited for a tasting of their most popular dishes in this two-floor, upscale restaurant. Awadh is conveniently located one minute from the subway on 2588 Broadway, New York, NY.
The owner and chef Gaurav Anand's inspiration for his latest restaurant creation was a trip to the Awadhi region of India. The restaurant serves a mixture of both North and South Indian dishes with a flair. One of Awadh's most popular appetizers is the Awadh Murgh Tikka, which is pomegranate and black pepper marinated chicken, it nearly melts in your mouth!
Every dish on the Awadh menu is unique and has a blend of North and South Indian spices such as curry leaves and mustard seeds. Each of their meat dishes are tender and well spiced like their Chicken Makhanwala and their Tariwala Chicken. Their vegetarian dishes like the Khaas Paneer Tikka were well balanced in both flavor and texture. The restaurant boasts a wide range of dishes for meat eaters, seafood lovers and vegetarians. For an Indian restaurant, the seafood selection is quite vast with a variety of seafood options such as scallops, prawns and lobster.
This is the third restaurant for owners Gaurav Anand and Shagun Mehandru. Their first restaurant, Bhatti is located in the heart of Murray Hill, their second, Moti Mahal is located on the Upper East Side and now their latest, opened seven months ago is conveniently accessible by subway on the Upper West Side.
