NEW YORK: Oscar winner, Grammy award winner, record producer, musician, singer, husband and father-- A.R Rahman wears many hats, but how much do we know about this "Mozart of Madras" as Time Magazine describes him?
His favorite color is blue, his favorite trip was a drive to Paris from Brussels because it was a quiet trip with his wife, this father of three is a genius that has made a huge mark in the Bollywood music industry.
A.R Rahman began his career in music when he was composing music for commercials. He received his big break in 1992 when he did his first movie “Roja” and considers that to be his best year in his career followed by the year he won at the Oscar’s for his music in “Slumdog Millionaire”.
Continuing in his success and fame in the US, A.R Rahman is bridging the gap between East and West music and collaborating with artists like Dido and Usher. Stay tuned for future East/West collaborations in an upcoming Bollywood film.
Besides working on future music releases, A.R Rahman is preparing for a musical world tour in which he refers to as a “story journey based on my music”. The tour begins on June 11, 2010 with a show at the Nassau Coliseum in New York, followed by concerts across the US, Canada, France, Zurich, Holland, and Britain.
