AIDS JaaGO is a collection of four short films by acclaimed Indian directors such as Mira Nair and Farhan Akhtar, they are being released on DVD for the first time by Film Karavaan, these shorts include top Indian actors such as Rahul Bose, Shabana Azmi, and many more.In India, illiteracy, misinformation, ignorance, superstition, political and social apathy are fueling the HIV/AIDS epidemic. In order to reach out to the Indian population in a different way, AIDS JaaGO engaged the Bollywood film industry to take advantage of the mass appeal of Bollywood films and their stars in service of the fight against HIV/AIDS.
AIDS JaaGO features entertaining plots which aim to arm the Indian viewing public with knowledge about HIV/AIDS, encourage healthier attitudes about the disease, dismantle myths and misconceptions about infection and infected persons, and encourage widespread use of HIV protection. AIDS JaaGO uses a fresh approach of sending out their message instead of the more traditional public service announcements or outreach programs. The urgent message about the fight against AIDS is transmitted in a dramatic, contemporary, and touching way.
The AIDS JaaGo DVD can be found on Amazon and Netflix. See below for a trailer:
