Guests at the AIF Benefit
Feathers, guests and sounds filled the Metropolitan Pavillion on April 9, 2011 for "A Toast to Tomorrow," AIF Benefit. Since it's formation in 2001, AIF has directly impacted the lives of over 1.5 million people through its support of over 115 nonprofits in India.
The sold out benefit had over 300 young professionals from the New York City area in support of AIF's initiative for 2010-2011. Nidan focuses on development in Bihar, India which is amongst the poorest states in the country and has a literacy rate of less than 50%. With AIF's help, Nidan will educate approximately 4,100 children aged 3-18.
The benefit provided guests with an opportunity to mingle with young professionals during the cocktail, enjoy a delicious dinner buffet provided by Mint Restaurant and dance the night away to Desi music. Bulldog Gin sponsored an open bar for the event. In addition to mingling, guests had the opportunity to hear a keynote address given by Grammy-nominated musician Chandrika Tandon. In order to generate additional donations, AIF held both a silent and live auction with all proceeds donated to Nidan.
The event was very well received by guests and had a great turnout which in turn raised a lot of money for Nidan.
The AIF NY chapter (NYYP) has raised more than $110,000 since 2007. Last year alone, NYYP raised over $37,500 for SAATH Umeed, a program that provides job training and placement to youth from vulnerable families across Gujarat and Rajasthan.
